Help David Dufresne!
A good friend of mine, David Dufresne, has entered the seminary and is currently seeking financial help with a specific evangelization opportunity. His mailing address is at the end of this blog post. Let me know if you'd like his email address.
Please note that I am intentionally deleting all references to the country to which he will hopefully be able to evangelize in. Email me if you'd like further details. Places where there should be a country name I have put "-----." The reason for this is because it has become known for blogs and websites to be blocked from this country if the powers that be in such country deem the blog/website to be contrary to what they would like their citizens to be exposed to. All the more reason to get David there!
Here is a letter from David:
Dear family and friends,
It is Providence that I am writing you on the Memorial of St. Francis Xavier. He is a great Jesuit saint from the 1500's who had a great desire to convert -----. After converting nearly all of Japan (before the Emperor there started to kill all the Catholics), he set sail for the Mainland and died en route. This summer, I have been offered the incredible opportunity to GO TO ----- and help EVANGELIZE! In some small sense I will carry on the work of Christ as envisioned by St. Francis Xavier! The goal is to print and pass out millions of Bibles, lead youth groups, rallies...spread the Gospel in -----! Nearly all ----- are taught English in school so there is virtually no language barrier. I would be going with an experienced Catholic group that has gone to ----- for the last 14 years. This group is so excited because ----- has to lift some of its bans on religious freedom in order to host the "games." This allows the group to be able to print millions of Bibles IN ----- itself.
I have permission from my Director of Vocations to go this summer on the condition that this does not put me in a financial constraint.
In order to go, I need $3,000. This covers the cost of my airfare, lodging, food, and printing hundreds of Bibles for me to personally pass out.
If you donated just $10 and got just two friends to do the same I would exceed my goal.
I need to let the group know if they can count on me ASAP.
Therefore, COULD YOU PLEASE EMAIL ME AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN PLEDGE $10 OR MORE?
All I need right now is an idea if this is possible so I can let the group know. If you wish to pledge, I will write back with the details.
Either way, please pray for the success of this great effort.
